EnterpriseDB Continues Alliance with HP at HP Discover

Date -2012-06-06 Collaboration on Postgres for HP-UX draws more than 1,300 downloads in first year

BEDFORD, Mass. – June 6, 2012 – EnterpriseDB, the leading worldwide provider of PostgreSQL and Oracle database compatibility products and services, today announced the product of two years of community collaboration on an open source alternative to Oracle will be on display during the 2012 HP Discover event, which opened Monday in Las Vegas.

EnterpriseDB is a partner in the HP/Intel Solution Centers, which has locations in Plano, Texas, Grenoble, France and Shanghai, China, and will be showcasing its Postgres Plus Advanced Server database build for the HP-UX operating environment on Intel® Itanium-based HP Integrity servers during the event, which ends June 7. The annual conference draws thousands of enterprise business and IT professionals to swap best practices, explore new technologies and showcase innovations in software, hardware, services and networking.

In less than one year of availability, EnterpriseDB has logged approximately 1,300 downloads of Postgres Plus Advanced Server for HP-UX. With builds for Linux and Windows, Postgres Plus Advanced Server is EnterpriseDB’s on-premise database that delivers enterprise-class features and capabilities at a fraction of what traditional vendors charge. HP and EnterpriseDB began collaborating to expand the hardware and software alternatives to traditional databases that were increasingly demanding hardware lock-in to shore up crumbling customer relationships. Like other versions, the Postgres Plus Advanced Service for HP-UX comes with Oracle compatibility features and migration tools.

"Our clients are looking for robust database alternatives that allow them to avoid vendor lock-in,” Lorraine Bartlett, Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and Strategy, Business Critical Systems, at HP, said. "EnterpriseDB offers an open source solution for HP-UX that is compatible with the Oracle database, providing clients with a multi-vendor alternative for their IT environments.”

“We couldn’t ask for a better partner than HP in our mission to slash the cost of databases and provide solutions that save money but also speed application development and deployment,” Ed Boyajian, CEO and President of EnterpriseDB, said. “We look forward to continuing to deepen our relationship as HP examines the value of moving its databases from costly traditional solutions to our open source alternative.”

HP Discover attendees may find EnterpriseDB in Booths 211 and 340 in the exhibit hall. More information on Postgres Plus Advanced Server for HP-UX can be found at https://www.enterprisedb.com/hp-ux.
