EnterpriseDB Appoints New Leadership in Europe

New Vice President James Brayshaw follows Board appointee Frank Fanzilli in expanding leadership ranks as EDB enters next growth phase

Date -2016-02-22 Location - Bedford, Mass The expansion in leadership ranks comes as EDB closes its twenty-fourth consecutive quarter – six uninterrupted years – of subscription revenue growth, and is poised to execute on major new growth initiatives. The DBMS market continues to shift towards Postgres open-source-based solutions as global business leaders address the imperative of becoming a platform for innovation. Already, 20% of the U.S. Fortune 500 have deployed EDB Postgres to accomplish their most strategic initiatives.

According to Gartner’s The State of Open Source RDBMS, 2015, open source database management systems (OSDBMSs) have matured into viable alternatives to and are displacing proprietary, commercial solutions for 80% of enterprise workloads. The confluence of (i) the coming of age of OSDBMSs and (ii) market forces that require companies to be agile, fail fast, and embrace DevOps (among other developments), has resulted in open source solutions such as EDB Postgres becoming not just “a choice” on the radar, but rather a strategic imperative for IT organizations to effectively meet the growing data management demands of their business units.

“EMEA represents several important geographies for EDB as enterprises and governments increasingly transform their database infrastructures with Postgres in order to achieve new efficiencies and enterprise-level goals, and to redirect spending to more strategic initiatives,” said Mike Huseman, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development.

“As a consumer of data management products in prior professional roles, I appreciate the value EDB Postgres brings to organizations seeking to drive strategy and reduce costs with open source-based software,” said Brayshaw. “EDB has achieved an enviable position in the marketplace as a Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader, and I am fortunate to now be a part of a revolution in the data center.”

Brayshaw has more than 30 years of leadership experience in enterprise software working with global brands and startups. Most recently, Brayshaw was Vice President for EMEA of Location Intelligence, Customer Information and Data Management at Pitney Bowes Software. Before that, Brayshaw spent more than 10 years at Ordnance Survey, the UK government’s national mapping agency and one of the world’s largest map producers, ultimately serving as Board Director, Sales, Marketing and Customer Services.

Brayshaw served on the Board of Directors of Pointx for six years and prior to Ordnance Survey held leadership positions within the Autodesk/BIM world. A chartered civil and structural engineer, Brayshaw attended Denstone College, Manchester University, and is a member of the UK’s Institution of Civil Engineers.

EDB’s newest Board member, Fanzilli spent 17 years at CSFB as Managing Director and ultimately as global CIO. As CSFB’s CIO, he managed a $2 billion budget and transformed the IT department from a service provider into a major catalyst for strategic corporate initiatives. Fanzilli also has served on the Boards of several leading data management companies. His successful record of leading enterprise growth will support the expansion of EDB’s strategic growth initiatives aimed at helping global brands redirect spend from traditional database vendors to new, data-driven applications.
